Features

PNG Subtitle Maker is an after effects script. It automates the creation of subtitles from an SRT file to PNG files.
It will create a still image (in PNG format) for each subtitle.
Then, thanks to the xml file generated, in addition to the PNG rendering files, subtitles are imported back into your editing software with frame-accurate precision.

The steps are simple.
1 - Export your subtitles in *.srt format from your editing software.
2 - In After Effects, open the subtitles with PNG Subtitle Maker, choose a template (or easily create your own.)
3 - Adjust a few parameters and generate in one click.
PNG Subtitle Maker will create an FCPXML file for Da Vinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro X, and an XML file for Premiere Pro.
4 - Simply import this file into your editing software as a timeline, and all the elements will be in the right timecode.

Create your templates

An After Effects project is provided with PNG Subtitle Maker, to get you started with predefined text style.
But it's extremely easy to create your own.
Do you know how to create a composition, place a text layer and apply a predefined animation?
If so, you know how to create a template.
Watch the tutorial for peace of mind.

Comparison with Motion Subtitle Maker

Motion Sublitle Maker is available on aescripts and is in the same family as PNG Subtitle Maker.
It works the same way, but it allows you to create animated subtitles. It also generates a subtitle composition, making the text directly editable in After Effects.

Caution

Subtitle management in general requires rigorous attention to several points in order to avoid problems.
- The same frame rate must be maintained throughout the process to avoid timecode slippage.
- If you need to use a subtitle file that has not been generated in the editing software, it is advisable to import it into the timeline, check for problems and export it to make sure that the timecode of the srt matches that of the timeline.
